Wheel Spinner — a free random wheel for classroom picks & prizes

A real spinning wheel, not a list with a shuffle button: every entry is a coloured segment, you press Spin, and the wheel winds up, slows down and settles with the pointer on the winner. Paste unlimited names or prizes, turn on Remove Picked for a no-repeats draw, and take it fullscreen on the projector. Free, no signup — and your list never leaves this browser.

Why a visible wheel beats a hidden shuffle

When a prize, a solo, or the last slice of pizza is on the line, "I used a random app" is never quite convincing. A prize wheel fixes that socially, not just mathematically: the whole room watches the wheel slow down and land, so the outcome is visibly chance. The suspense is the feature — the two seconds where the wheel crawls past the last two segments is what makes a classroom actually accept the result.

Classroom picks, raffles and forfeits

Load the wheel with whatever needs deciding: who presents first, which revision question comes next, tonight's raffle prizes, or the forfeit for the losing team. With Remove Picked on, each landed segment leaves the wheel until you press Re-Add All — a draw without replacement, so thirty students get thirty different turns and a prize table empties exactly once. Entries are stored only in this browser on this device; nothing is uploaded, so a class list stays in the room.

Segments you can tell apart from the back row

The wheel colours its segments with the Okabe-Ito palette — a set chosen so adjacent colours stay distinguishable for colourblind viewers and survive washed-out projectors. Long lists still work: labels shrink and trim to keep every wedge readable, and there is no cap on how many entries you can add. Prefer a faster pick without the spin? The random name picker is the same tool in its quick flicker mode.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel actually fair?

Yes. The winner is chosen uniformly at random from the entries still on the wheel, and the wheel then animates to that segment — the spin is theatre on top of an honest draw, so every segment has the same chance regardless of size, position or how hard you "spin".

How many entries can I put on the wheel?

There is no limit. Labels get smaller as the wheel fills and very long names are trimmed on the wedge, but the full name is always announced under the wheel when it wins.

Can I run a prize draw with it?

That is what Remove Picked is for: load the prizes, spin once per winner, and each prize comes off the wheel as it is won. Re-Add All resets the draw for the next round.
